R/3 interface now 'JCO' based |
|
The initial SAP R/3 interface used the SAP jrfc Java classes which, using JNI relied on the
native RFC C++ based communication library.
This implementation has now been recoded to use the current (and sole) SAP 'JCO' (Java connector)
implementation. Nothing has changed for the CRMAC usage; during installation different libraries
are needed. Like JRFC, JCO is available from SAP free of charge.

crmac has been enhanced with a 'web services' compliant SOAP ('simple object access protocol')
interface. This allows integration of crmac engines into any web services based scenario.
Previously integration capabilites (file, socket, java-api) of the engine remain unchanged. The xml
formats of the new soap methods are identical to the existing formats.

java dependency |
|
Ongoing changes in java, especially concerning the VM and the reduction in suppliers of
adequate VMs has put question marks to the long term future of java as basis of CRMAC.
Work has been started to add an additional layer of abstraction between the CRMAC sources
and java files. Another benefit will be the possibility to generate C# as an alternative.

5th anniversary |
|
the first crmac proto did run at february 1997 (though not for long...,
after about some five minutes it had used up all available memory and the
system went into starvation). The model was of the balance type, consisting
of about eight to ten rules. It was quickly replaced by first instances of the
'fly' model.
